One of the biggest trends in Hollywood today is the habit of turning classic animated films into live-action reboots. This seemed like an enormous waste of time and creativity, but the films have started proving doubters wrong.
Jungle Book was one of the best movies of the year, and director Jon Favreau was rewarded with a sequel, as well as a Lion King reboot. If the trailers are any indication, Beauty And The Beast will be met with the same kind of warm reception when it hits theaters next year.

There are many more animated remakes in production – including Winnie The Pooh, Mulan, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid. With that in mind, we decided to pick out five other animated movies that could use a live-action reboot.

James And The Giant Peach
This Roald Dahl tale was beautiful on the pages, but even more beautiful on the screen. Disney took the incredible source material and really lifted it even higher.
With the recent advances in filmmaking technology, there’s no reason why this kind of grand adventure couldn’t be turned into a live-action film. The creatures that inhabit the peach could be a little creepy for kids, but there’s a definite way to capture that essence while keeping true to the youthful tone.
Roald Dahl booksย have also tended to be great as live-action in the past. The BFG didn’t make much in the box office, yet garnered a ton of criticl acclaim. And how can we forget Willy Wonka?!

Princess And The Frog
The Princess And The Frog was a great princess movie that often times gets overshadowed by the likes of Frozen and Tangled. It’s kind of disappointing, because Princess and The Frog was really a phenomenal film.
The New Orleans setting of the movie would give a live-action adaptation a lot of life, and there are plenty of talented actors out there who could knock the lead characters out of the park.ย

Princess Mononoke
This classic anime film is one of the most grandious adventures ever set to screen, and a live-action version would be such an awesome spectacle.
The story of Ashitaka’s fight against the gods of the forest is one that shoudn’t be contained to a small animated prodcution from the 90s. While the cartoon is great, these epic battles and memorable characters could amaze audiences across the globe in an IMAX theater.ย

Monster House
Monster House is a largely under-appreciated film that could really draw some major attention with a live-action release.ย
Written by Dan Harmon (Community, Rick and Morty), and produced by Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, this movie was a classic from th start of production. The tale of a couple of friends in a battle against a house with a mind of its own is perfect for the audiences of today.
Many comic fans have been calling for a movie or TV series adaptation of Locke & Key, and Monster House could be a great first step towards making magical houses popular again.

The Iron Giant
There’s almost no explaination needed here. Brad Bird’s classic animated tale is ready for a live-action audience. Just use the original script, grab the cast and crew from Stranger Things, and throw Bird back in the director’s chair.
With the way that Star Wars droids are able to look in current films, The Iron Giant should have no problem being brought to life.ย
And yes, before you ask, Vin Diesel should absolutely voice The Giant again.
