5 Miley Cyrus Most Absurd Moments

Miley Cyrus has been a household name for years. From her debut as a Disney Channel star to her weekly gig as a coach on The Voice, she has been grown up in the spot light. Despite her sweet and wholesome beginnings, it’s clear that as she’s grown, she has become more and more outrageous.

From adding racy dancing to her performances, to creating a whole new kind of move, this former pop-princess has certainly turned up the sex in every part of her life. She wears crazy outfits that leave nothing to the imaginaiotn. What’s more, most of the outrageous antics she does, usually fall into the racy and NSFW categories.

Hair Cut

One of the biggest changes in Miley’s career was noted by her extreme haircut. 

To help shed her Disney Channel, cookie-cutter apperance, and truly become the edgy and racy person that she claims has always been inside, Cyrus chopped off all of her hair to don a short, short cut. Where once she wore long flowing brown locks – covered occasionally by a blonde wig – now she rocked a platinum blonde pixie cut. 

After this change of hair, Cyrus started to act very differently than she did when she was working for Disney. Her cut was more than just a celebration of her leaving that part of her life behind, and the first step to becoming her own person. 

Twerking

As Cyrus’ performances got more and more sexualized, so did her dancing. This evolution of sexual movement helped create Twerking. 

Twerking, as now described by the Oxford English Dictionary where it was added in 2013 – thanks Miley – is a “Dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.” Pretty much, she squatted and then started to move her butt up and down. 

The twerking phenomenon blew up! There was barely anywhere you could go that you didn’t hear someone talking about it, or watching someone try to do it. 

Licking Stuff

Miley Cyrus is a little obsessed with her tounge.

Even before she cut off all her hair and started being “edgy,” Cyrus started sticking her tounge out – all the time. There are very few photos where she isn’t sticking her tounge out, even on the red carpet. She even entered onstage by sliding down a tounge slide!

Eventually, Cyrus started flicking her tounge around and licking things. Many of her selfies ae of her licking everything from ice cream to dogs, from her trophies to floors. It’s hard to imagine what she has tasted over the last few years. 

Wrecking Ball

“Wrecking Ball” is the music video that sailed 1,000 memes.

In the video, Cyrus wasn’t holding anything back as she came swinging in sitting in her unerwear on a wrecking ball. Later in the same video, she would do the same thing, only naked. This image was played over and over again, and the internet took a hold of the scene and recreated it in a million different ways – including, live action attempts at recreating the scene, images of Barbie on a wrecking ball, and even photos of the “Elf on the Shelf” ridding the wrecking ball at Christmas. 

What’s more, the song itself was a huge hit! It was Cyrus’ first number one hit single in the United States and went on to sell three million copies in 2014. It was even parodied by Anne Hathaway on Lip Sync Battle. Most importantly, once you listen to it, the song will never stop playing in your head. 

2013 VMA Duet with Robin Thicke

If there was ever a time that it was clear that the Disney Channel child star and role model was long gone it was during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards duet performance between Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

The perfomance opened with Cyrus enterting the stage from a giant teddy bear to perform “We Can’t Stop.” Then as the song changed to Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” everything got just a little more crazy for Cyrus. She stripped off her teddy bear corset to reveal a nude bra and underwear – remeniscent to the naked ladies in Thicke’s music video.

Then there was a foam finger. The foam finger eventually traced every part of both musicians bodies. But what most criticized the most of the performance was Cyrus’ shameless grinding on Thicke, who is married. In 2015, Cyrus was asked about the performance in an interview.

“Everything I’ve ever done has been true to me at that minute,” she said. “Even down to [Hannah Montana] — when I started I was 12 years old, and that was like a dream to me. So that was my truth at that moment. [The performance] was kind of going into this way of saying, ‘I’m just going to do what will make me happy.’”
