Pokemon GO Dating Service Launches

Reality really can be stranger than fiction. First, fans found it hilarious that Pokémon GO had overtaken Tinder (and other popular sites) to become the most successful mobile app of all-time. Now, curious or lonely trainers can take the amours adventures to the next level and sign themselves up for the world's first Pokémon GO dating service.

Yeah, really. It's an actual thing, everyone.

The service's name is PokéDates, and it works much like you would expect. The site explains how trainers are matched up with compatible companions. Users are asked a few questions, prompted to share their gaming schedule, and then they'll be emailed with their partner's information. Should they accept their date, the trainers will be asked to meet at a local PokéStop or gym to catch 'em all - and just maybe - capture each others' hearts.

PokéDates explained their motivations in selecting Pokémon GO as a dating catalyst, writing, "Pokémon GO is arguably the best idea of the 21st century...While competitive, most users see more upside in collaboration and this game has been breaking societal barriers and making friends left and right. What's next for Pokémon GO? Well it's obvious isn't? Pokédates!"

Hopefully, real-life trainers will have better game than Ash Ketchum who's never once had a steady girlfriend. But, to be honest, I think we can give him a break considering the dude is forever stuck at 10-years-old.

PokéDates even has some credibility backing it up for gamers who're skeptical of their service. The site is built upon a pre-existing site, Project Fixup. The original site emphasizes its ability to match up applicants by hand, and the company's 'Chief Fixup Officer' Dank Korenevsky has promised trainers the site will save them time in finding their one, true pokémon soulmate. "Browsing, swiping, messaging back-and-forth starts as fun and exciting and turns into a huge time-suck," he wrote. "PokéDates and Project Fixup give people their time back and turns online dating into offline dating."

For now, PokéDates is free for the first date (if you use the promo code 'POKEDATES2016'), but all meetings after a couple's first battle will cost $20. But, if your wanting a different kind of date and are feeling cuter than a Luvdisc, then it might be worth going on your very own Pokédate.
