Disneyland has announced that the most famous ghost from The Haunted Mansion ride is returning.
Those visiting Disneyland this May will be able to see The Hatbox Ghost. He appeared when the attraction opened in 1969 but was removed soon after and that is the last time the original figure was ever seen again.

Why was he removed? Well, the ghost had an illusion that worked fine when they tested in a controlled environment but when he was placed in the attic scene the illusion didn’t work as well. What’s the illusion? The ghost holds a hatbox, the head on his shoulders disappears and then reappears in the hatbox.
