The father of an 11-year-old girl has been arrested after the little girl was fatally shot on Monday.
Police in Hendersonville, Tennessee have arrested 29-year-old Timothy Batts in connection with the fatal shooting death of his daughter Timea Lashay Batts. He has been charged with reckless homicide, tampering with evidence and false reporting.
The father originally told police the girl had been shot outside of the house, before he drove her to the hospital where she died, but police determined she had died in the house. Batts later admitted he had shot the girl accidentally because she startled him when she came home while he was napping, WTVF reports.
The tragic shooting occurred when the girl returned home from her first day of middle school.
