Seahawks Receiver Carted off With “Serious” Injury

The Seattle Seahawks are dealing with an injury concern after Friday’s joint practice session with the Tennessee Titans.

Wide receiver Jake Bobo suffered an apparent knee injury after attempting to make a leaping catch in the session. He had to be carted from the field.

The team does not yet know the extent of the injury, but the team expects to lose the fourth-year receiver for a significant amount of time.

“Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo, it seems like it’s going to be a serious knee,” head coach Mike Macdonald said after practice.

“We’re going to get it imaged, but early returns, it looks like it’s a long-term injury. That’s unfortunate.”

An undrafted free agent out of UCLA, Bobo secured a role with the Seahawks in 2023. He has not become a prominent part of the offense in his three seasons with the team, but he has carved out a role in multiple phases of the game.

Bobo has caught 34 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with the Seahawks. He has also heavily contributed on special teams.

One of the biggest plays of Bobo’s career came in last season’s NFC championship. He caught a 17-yard pass from Sam Darnold during the third quarter of the game. He scored a touchdown with a defender wrapped around him, and he gave the Seahawks a 23-13 lead.

The Seahawks went on to defeat the Rams 31-27 to secure a spot in Super Bowl 60. They then defeated the Patriots 29-13 to end the season as champions.

Bobo had an opportunity to leave the Seahawks after winning a championship, but the team did not let this happen. They gave him a two-year contract worth $5.5 million that included $4.5 million in guaranteed money.

The Seahawks will now on from the injury and continue the preseason. They will first face off with the Titans on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. ET. They will then play the Chiefs on Friday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m. ET.

The Seahawks will officially kick off the title defense with Week 1 of the NFL season. The team will host the Patriots on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 8:20 p.m. ET.

This rematch with the Patriots will provide the Seahawks with the chance to kick off the year 1-0 and get a leg up on the competition.

The Seahawks believe they will return to the playoffs and have an opportunity to pursue another championship. The Polymarket traders mostly agree with the assessment.

These traders believe that the Rams have the best opportunity to reach the playoffs, and they have give the team an 80% to achieve this goal. The Bills and Ravens are just behind at 76%.

The Seahawks are fourth on the list. This team enters Week 2 of the preseason at 67%. This puts the team just ahead of the Lions and Chargers at 65%.

Losing Bobo will certainly hurt the team’s depth chart, especially on special teams. However, the team will just have to forge on and find other players who can step up.
