It’s not uncommon for fans to assume what would happen if their favorite characters on their favorite TV shows got together to start a family, but in the case of Criminal Minds stars Matthew Gray Gubler and Shemar Moore, Gubler took to social media to tell fans exactly what their offspring would look like.

It’s uncommon for actors to address the romantic conjectures that fans make, but for Gubler to not only address the rumors but provide fans with a mental image caused a huge reaction in the passionate fanbase.

Criminal Minds debuted in 2005 on CBS and, unlike many other procedural crime dramas that dominate the airwaves, the show focuses on trying to understand the criminal behind the crimes as opposed to the crime itself. Gubler has been on the series since its premiere, with Moore exiting as a regular cast member in the 11th season and only being featured in guest spots in the most recent 12th season.

The show has been so successful, that it’s served as the inspiration for spin-off series Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

Theย CBSย series has an incredibly devoted fanbaseย who were thrilled to see the star of their favorite show, with the tweet earning over 12,000 retweets and over 55,000 likes.

User camxgagaย hoped that Gubler’s joke could become a reality, questioning, “Well, have y’all TRIED making a baby? The internet + science communities await.”

Another user, waanderlst, thought that maybe the joke was made because Gublerย was getting delirious late at night, saying, “jesus christ go to bed.”

Gubler plays Spencer Reid in the series, the youngest member of the FBI’sย Behavioral Analysis Unit with a genius IQ of 187. He can read 20,000 words a minute and mostly focuses on statistics and geographic profiling.

Moore played Derek Morgan, aย Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit who focused on obsessive behaviors.

In 2012, TV Guide listed Morgan as one of “TV’sย Sexiest Crime Fighters.”ย

User kirstywallace agreed that Moore and Gubler would make an attractive baby, saying, “And it would be beautiful.”

CBS has renewed the series for a 13th season, which will return to airwaves this fall. It’s unclear exactly what kinds of adventures Gubler’s character could get into or how often Moore will appear, but fans will welcome any appearances they can get.

Another one of the series regulars, Thomas Gibson, will not be returning, as his contract was terminated in 2016 following an on-set altercation with a writer-producer. Criminal Minds was able to write his character’s departure into the narrative, revealing that he was forced to join the Witness Protection Program.
