Fans and friends of actor, John Heard, woke up to devastating news that the beloved star of Home Alone and its sequel had died at the age of 72.

TMZ reports the beloved star of several mega ’80s and ’90s films died on Friday in a Palo Alto, California hotel.

With much of Hollywood waking up to the news Saturday, many in the film and television industry expressed their deepest condolences and took to social media to pay their respects for the lovable actor.

Heard was an extraordinary actor who established himself in the late ’80s, early ’90s. While he is known best to audiences around the world as the lovable father inย Home Alone, he acted in a slew of A-list film projects that garnered him much acclaim and solidified his role in Hollywood. Film critics took to Twitter to express their condolences and even share some of their criterion-type favorites.

Heard’s co-stars

Some of the actor’s co-stars also took to Twitter to express their deepest sympathies, including Margย Helgenberger, who starred with Heard in the miniseries,ย Perfect Murder, Perfect Townย in 2000 for FOX; along with Elizabeth Perkins in the film,ย Big.

Jeff Bridges also took to social media, sharing what he learned from Heard during their time onset ofย Cutler’s Way.

Filmmakers

Directors and producers across the board have also taken to Twitter to express their condolences over Heard’sย passing, including the likes of some of TV’sย most acclaimed, like HBO’sย Girls director,ย Richard Shepard who didn’t get the chance to work with the star, but admired his work from afar.

While Heard had an extensive filmography, there were still many who admired the actor and wished they too could have starred with him in a project. Actress, Dana Delaney took to Twitter to express her condolences and tweeted out a photo of his role in 1979’s Chilly Scenes of Winter.
