Actress Vanessa Hudgens has paid her dues after carving her name in a federally protected red rock formation in Sedona, Arizona.
The High School Musical and Grease: Live and her boyfriend, actor Austin Butler visited Sedona over Valentine’s Day weekend. During the trip, Hudgens posted a photo on Instagram of the couple’s names and a heart carved into a red rock wall.

She was issued a citation on a misdemeanor count of damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service property.
Hudgens admitted to carving the rock and paid $1,000 to settle the citation. The money will go to Friends of the Forest, a volunteer group, to restore the Bell Rock formation where the carving was located.
Causing damage to a federally-protected natural feature could be punishable by up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.
