Dylan was last seen on November 18, 2012. He was on a court-ordered visit with his father in Colorado at the time.

Seven months later, the child’s remains were found in southwestern Colorado and had been scattered in the area by wild animals.

Over the course of the four-and-a-half year investigation, Redwine constantly denied playing a role in his son’s death. However, the investigators considered the father a person of interest.

During the grand jury indictment, the authorities said that there was blood found in multiple spots in Redwine’s living room. They mention that there were “compromising images” of Redwine that Dylan found that possibly led to an argument between the two.

The night Dylan disappeared, cadaver dogs spotted the scent of a dead body in various locations in the home and on Redwine’s clothing.

Redwine told the authorities that he returned home after doing errands to find his son missing. Redwine blamed his ex-wife and Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, for the crime. On the contrary, she accused him of committing the murder.

“I always have from day one, when he was missing,” she said while talking to The Pine River Times at the time.

Dylan’s mother also said that her former spouse once mentioned that if he ever needed to dispose of a body that he would take it out to the mountains.

In June of 2013, Dylan’s partial remains were found on Middle Mountain, Daily Mail reports. His skull was later located by hikers 1.5 miles away on November 1, 2015.

The skull showed injuries that were consistent with blunt force trauma. The indictment also alleges that there was a pair of small markings that could have been made from a knife.

Redwine is currently being held on a $1 million bond in Bellingham, Washington.
