After a recent run of underwhelming original series, Netflix seems to be getting back on track. The streaming service has just released the first trailer for Atypical, and the new show looks to be exactly that.
The coming-of-age comedy series follows an 18-year-old student named Sam, who’s played by Keir Gilchrist (It Follows). Sam is on the autism spectrum and he struggles with the everyday life of deciding who he wants to be, dealing with his family, and trying to get girls.

Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) plays Sam’s mother, who has a hard time dealing with the evolution of her family, which includes performances from Michael Rapaport and Brigette Lundy-Paine.
The trailer begins to ask the age-old question, “What is normal?” As one character suggests, it’s very possible that none of us are.
First Teaser for Narcos Season 3 Released
While Sam’s autism can set him apart, and make him feel like he’s not normal, the series aims to show us that we all feel that way to some extent.
The first season of Atypical is set to air all eight episodes on August 11, only on Netflix.
