Video of LeBeouf’s drunken state, in which he suggested a black police officer would go “straight to hell,” hit the internet shortly after his arrest, and now the Transformers star says he is “deeply ashamed.”
His statement reads, “I am deeply ashamed of my behavior and make no excuses for it. I don’t know if these statements are too frequent, or not shared often enough, but I am certain that my actions warrant a very sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint. The severity of my behavior is not lost on me.”
It continues, “My outright disrespect for authority is problematic to say the least, and completely destructive to say the worst. It is a new low. A low I hope is a bottom. I have been struggling with addiction publicly for far too long, and I am actively taking steps toward securing my sobriety and hope I can be forgiven for my mistakes.”
According to reports, in the early morning hours of July 8, Savannah Metro law enforcement officers in Georgia arrested a male subject after he had become disorderly in City Market.
The “male subject” in question turned out to be LaBeouf.

Sometime around 4:00 a.m., the 31-year-old reportedly approached a bystander and police officer somewhere near the intersection of Barnard Street and West St. Julian Street. He is said to have been asking for a cigarette.
Neither the bystander nor the officer had a cigarette for him, and that is when LaBeouf reportedly became “disorderly.”
He was reported to be using profanities and inappropriate language in front of the women and children who were present.
The actor was instructed to vacate the premises but refused and became aggressive toward the police officer.
At this point, the police officer attempted to arrest LaBeouf, but he fled the scene and ran into a nearby hotel.
He was arrested in the lobby of the hotel, but it’s reported that his disorderly behavior continued even there.
Finally, LaBeouf was charged with “obstruction, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.”
