Donald Trump mocked Marlee Matlin for being Deaf in a really cruel way, but the actress got the last word.
According to the Huffington Post, The Daily Beast reported that when Matlin was on the Celebrity Apprentice, Trump called the actress, who is Deaf, “retarded.”

The actress responded in a tweet calling the word “abhorrent” and saying it should “never be used.” She also said Trump’s 2005 use of the word while completely uncalled for, especially from a person in leadership, is a sample of the “discrimination and misunderstanding” people like her face every day.
Matlin then maintained her poise and class and answered the awful statement with a eloquent one of her own.
“So, what’s my response? It’s not about insults or taking each other down,” the actress said. “As a person who is Deaf, as a woman, as a mom, as a wife, as an actor. I have a voice. And I’m using that voice to make myself heard … and vote.”
