Disney Adds Rock Wall Around Lagoon Where Alligator Grabbed Toddler

Disney has added rock borders around water near its resorts in order to protect guests after an alligator fatally grabbed a toddler in June.

The low stone features are designed to make it harder for people to access the water. They are not designed to keep animals contained, according to PEOPLE.

In addition to adding the rock borders, the resorts have posted more signs warning visitors about alligators and snakes in the area.

The decision to add further safety features comes after two-year-old Lane Graves was killed after an alligator grabbed him while he played in shallow water near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The new borders should all be in place around the Seven Seas Lagoon by September.
