Happy Valentine’s Day Comicbook wrestling nation! Does the world of professional wrestling have any room for love? While we most associate the WWE with it’s barbaric spandex gladiators who battle it out each week over a shiny championship belt, we must not forget the many relationships that have blossomed–like a rose from a sidewalk crack–into beautiful displays of love.
Throughout wrestling history there have been many relationships which have either propelled a superstar to new heights or brought him to his ultimate demise. On this Valentines Day we will celebrate the five greatest couples in WWE history.

5. Rusev and Lana
Real life husband and wife, Lana and Rusev, have been nearly inseparable since joining the WWE. Whether he was from Russia or Bulgaria, it didn’t matter to Lana. She has supported her Super Athlete through the ups and downs of his WWE career.
Like many relationships, they did go through a rough patch, but after a few weeks testing the waters with Summer Rae and Dolph Ziggler, both Lana and Rusev realized they only had eyes for each other.
4. Edge and Lita
When you perform a live sex celebration on national TV, you’re definitely one of the top five couples in wrestling history. The most interesting part about Edge and Lita’s relationship was that Edge actually stole Lita from one of his best friends, Matt Hardy. When news hit the dirstsheets that Edge failed to put “bros before hos” he turned Edge into one of the biggest heels on the roster. Thankfully for us, WWE cashed in on the real life drama and put the two together on screen to make one of the greatest couples in WWE history.
3. Miz and Maryse
Typically in wrestling history, women managers or valets, if you like, have been used as the yin to the Heel wrestler’s yang. To put it more bluntly, they have been portrayed as beautiful women stuck in abusive relationships, just waiting for someone to come and save them.
Thankfully those days are gone in the modern WWE and we get to see a real life couple like Miz and Maryse be amazing heels while showing the WWE universe what true love really looks like. Sure, Miz hides behind Maryse from time to time, but she willingly jumps in front of him to take the bullet. Every time Miz and Maryse are on screen together they will share a look or a moment together that is so genuine, the rest of us can’t help but admire the love they have built together.
2. Macho Man and Elizabeth
For many of us over the age of 35, Macho Man and Elizabeth were our first example of “relationship goals.” No matter how much Macho Man treated Elizabeth as his possession, it was clear that he loved the first lady of professional wrestling. When Macho and Liz broke things off, we all suffered. When they reunited, with tears in their eyes, we all cried tears of joy.
They were married in a wrestling ring for crying out loud! How could they not be one of the greatest couples in WWE history?
1. Triple H and Stephanie
Not all relationships begin on a sunny note. Some begin in Vegas with a drugged up bride at a drive through wedding chapel. But regardless of their beginnings, there is no mistaking that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are the greatest wrestling couple of all time. For nearly twenty years the two have helped propel each other to unimaginable heights as they ruled over the WWE both inside and outside of the ring.
As they sit high a top the McMahon empire, it’s clear we’ll get to see the fruits of Stephanie and Triple H’s love for many years to come.
