Three years after messaging each other on dating network, Tinder, Michelle Arendas and Josh Avsec still haven’t met. But since their exchanges have gone viral, the company is now sending them to Hawaii for a first date.

BuzzFeed reports that the two Kent State University students were first matched by the dating app in 2014.

“Tinder was super new at the time for my whole friend group. At the time, I had matched with a whole bunch of girls and I took it as a joke,” Avsec said. “I sent [them] some pretty humorous lines. And then I bumped into Michelle. She seemed a little different.”

Arendas took two months to respond to that Avsec’s message, joking that her phone had died. That set off a pattern of the pair messaging each other with months in between responses, each one with an escalating joke.

Asvec recently shared the exchanges on Twitter and they went viral. Soon, Tinder got involved, offering to send the pair on a first date wherever they wanted to go. The pair chose Hawaii.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to facilitate them meeting IRL, and we hope that this encourages other Tinder users to keep swiping, matching and meeting new people,” Tinder said in a statement. “You never know where it might lead.”
