In 2008, Casey Anthony was indicted by a grand jury on charges in the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, who was 2 years old at the time. The murder trial went on to become one of the most highly publicized issues, and there were some seriously outrageous quotes that arose throughout the proceedings.

Anthony, 31, was found not guilty of the crime, but there was an overwhelming amount of evidence stacked against her in the trial. After the jury ruled that she was innocent, Anthony still claims that she has no idea what actually happened to Caylee.

She said that there are “blanks” in her memory around the time that her daughter went missing.

Casey Anthony Quotes About Her Mother

During the murder trial, Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy, were both brought into the media spotlight as well.

Anthony’s legal team accused George of being involved in Caylee’s death. However, Cindy claimed that Caylee’s death was an accidental drowning and that Anthony simply panicked.

“I was upset that my mother was parading herself around in front of the television,” she said.

“She’s a grown woman and she’s free to say whatever she’s going to say…I had zero control over that. I was in jail,” she said. “I had no control over anything.”

In 2014, Anthony was sued by Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman who claimed that Anthony tried to pin Caylee’s disappearance on her. During a deposition for the lawsuit, Anthony stated that Caylee was taken by Gonzalez, but that it was a different woman of the same name.

Anthony referred to the woman as “Zanny the Nanny,” and many believed that this was not a real person or was a reference to Xanax.

Anthony said that she believes that law enforcement had it in for her all throughout the trial. Even though she wasn’t forthcoming with the truth, Anthony said that she believes she was “victimized” in the trial.

Now that the trial has been over for several years, Anthony has only spoken out a handful of times. On one such occasion, she addressed the possibility of having more children.

“If I am blessed enough to have another child — if I’d be dumb enough to bring another kid into this world knowing that there’d be a potential that some jackass, their little snot-nosed kid would then say something mean to my kid — I don’t think I could live with that,” she said, according to PEOPLE.

In one of her most recent interviews, Anthony spoke out about what Caylee would have been like today. Many were shocked to hear how Anthony characterized how her daughter would be if she was alive today.

While the jury came back with a not guilty verdict, many still believed that Anthony was guilty. Because of this, she has essentially been in hiding since the trial.
