In 2008, Casey Anthony was indicted by a grand jury on charges in the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, who was 2 years old at the time. The murder trial went on to become one of the most highly publicized issues, and there were some seriously outrageous quotes that arose throughout the proceedings.
Anthony, 31, was found not guilty of the crime, but there was an overwhelming amount of evidence stacked against her in the trial. After the jury ruled that she was innocent, Anthony still claims that she has no idea what actually happened to Caylee.

She said that there are “blanks” in her memory around the time that her daughter went missing.
“If I knew what actually happened, I’d be able to fill in those blanks,” she said. “I’ve done enough research, I’ve done enough psychology seminars, I’ve been tested, I’ve gone to the psychological evaluations, talked about this to the point where I’ve been in a puddle and not able to talk about it for days afterwards.”

Casey Anthony Quotes About Her Mother
During the murder trial, Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy, were both brought into the media spotlight as well.
Anthony’s legal team accused George of being involved in Caylee’s death. However, Cindy claimed that Caylee’sย death was an accidental drowning and that Anthonyย simply panicked.
“I was upset that my mother was parading herself around in front of the television,” she said.
“She’s a grown woman and she’s free to say whatever she’s going to say…I had zero control over that. I was in jail,” she said. “I had no control over anything.”
Casey Anthony Quotes About “Zanny the Nanny”
In 2014, Anthony was sued by Zenaidaย Gonzalez, a woman who claimed that Anthony tried to pin Caylee’s disappearance on her.ย During a deposition for the lawsuit, Anthony stated that Cayleeย was taken by Gonzalez, but that it was a different woman of the same name.
Anthony referred to the woman as “Zanny the Nanny,” and many believed that this was not a real person or was a reference to Xanax.
“It was true, [Zannyย the Nanny] had watched my daughter on one occasion,” she said.
During the same deposition, Anthony was asked about her daughter and threatened to leave if the prosecutors continued with the line of questioning.
“I decline to answer any questions about my daughter. If you ask me again, I will walk out of this room,” she said, according to HLN.
Casey Anthony Quotes About Lying to the Police
One of the most difficult tasks for the prosecutors on the case was to sift through Anthony’s lies. For example, one lie that Anthony told detectives was that she was kidnapped by the nanny on June 9.ย
Anthony doesn’t seemย to regret lying to the cops, but rather that she confessed to doing so.
“People lie to the cops every day. Cops lie to people every day; I’m just one of the unfortunate idiots who admitted that they lied,” she said.
Anthony said that she believes that law enforcement had it in for her all throughout the trial. Even though she wasn’t forthcoming with the truth, Anthony said that she believes she was “victimized” in the trial.
“Even if I would’ve told them everything that I told to the psychologist, I hate to say this but I firmly believe I would have been in the same place,” Anthony said. “Because cops believe other cops. Cops tend to victimize the victims. I understand now … I see why I was treated the way I was even had I been completely truthful.”
Casey Anthony Quotes About Having More Children
Now that the trial has been over for several years, Anthony has only spoken out a handful of times. On one such occasion, she addressed the possibility of having more children.
“If I am blessed enough to have another child โ if I’d be dumb enough to bring another kid into this world knowing that there’d be a potential that some jackass, their little snot-nosed kid would then say something mean to my kid โ I don’t think I could live with that,” she said, according to PEOPLE.
In one of her most recent interviews, Anthony spoke out about what Cayleeย would have been like today. Many were shocked to hear how Anthony characterized how her daughter would be if she was alive today.
“Caylee would be 12 right now, and would be a total badass,” she said.
Casey Anthony Quotes About Her Public Persona
While the jury came back with a not guilty verdict, many still believed that Anthonyย was guilty. Because of this, she has essentially been in hiding since the trial.
Anthony shocked people when discussing her public perception, and how she feels no guilt whatsoever.
“I don’t give a s— about what anyone thinks about me, I never will,” Anthonyย toldย the Associated Press. “I’m OK with myself, I sleep pretty good at night.”
While a jury found Anthonyย innocent, she did reveal that she was not proud of the woman she was at the time of Caylee’sย disappearance.
“I didn’t kill my daughter…but I’m ashamed of the person I was,” she said.
