Blast from the Past
The 70sย were in full-effect in 2015 and by the looks of Alice and Olivia, Jeremy Scott and Michael Korsย — the retro look is here to stay.
Karlie Kloss wore retro prints to open and close the Jeremy Scott show Monday, including a bright leopard coat and a pink polka-dotted dress, both with fur detail and Hairpsray-approved hair styles.ย Michael Kors played the 1960s pop hit ‘Windy’ as his models mirrored the sentiment of the tune — all with a modern twist, of course.ย
Going back even further, Binx Walton at Tommy Hilfiger was ’40s pin-up in a babe in a red satin dress, echoingย vintage detailing.ย

Madeline Stuart Stuns
Australian modelย Madeline Stuartย took the runway by storm at NYFWย Spring 2016 shows when she became the first person with Down syndrome toย walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.
Her glowing smile appeared again for FTLย Moda, the first was a wintry look by Lulu te Gigiย and the second, a gold and purple formal dress she stunned in.ย
“I hope through modeling I can change society’s view of people with disabilities, exposure to creating awareness, acceptance and inclusion,”ย she wrote on her websiteย — we adore her!

Ri-Ri Goes Futuristic
Rihannaย had a lot to prove at NYFW, as the new creative director for Puma all eyes were on her first show for the brand.
Looks were full of Japaneseย streetwearโinspired gear from Ri, includingย FENTY PUMA by Rihanna collection which featured model power sisters,ย Gigiย and Bella Hadid. The modelsย walked down the runway in slicked back silver-white hair, dark colored lips, a plush coat and pointed-toe stiletto sneakers. The future looks fab, Rihanna!

Coming to a Red Carpet Near You
Red carpetย elegance, is there nothing more thrilling at FW then an incredible gown? It is the thing that fashion dreams are made of. Christian Sirianoย ‘wowed’ with silky, flowing silhouettes. As did Ralph Lauren with gilded gowns as far as the eye could see. One breathtaking gown after another took to the runway.
At Carolina Herrera, a neutral color palette turned into rich hues of violet, crushed grape and mulberry. Texture offset the luxeย satins with sweet flower embroideries.ย J. Medelย and Marchesa also showcased floral motifs on everything from off-the-shoulder to deep-v gowns.

Disco Inferno at DVF
Dianeย von Furstenbergย brought together every top model including Gigiย Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Lily Aldridge and the current face of DVFย – Karlieย Klossย – for her show turned dance party. Held at DVF’s meatpacking district headquarters, the runway show was touted as an “experience,” as the audience watched the models as they got ready, as if the beauties were having a girl’s night out. Primping, prepping and boogying to 70s music, a conga line even began! ย

Musical Moments
Similar to DVF’sย non-runway show, designers created experiential shows at NYFWย 2016. Rachel Antonoffย had a performers sing “A Secretary Is Not a Toy” from the Broadway musicalย How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying with the beautiful and brave,ย Ali Stroker,ย sang lead. Strokerย made history by being the first wheelchair actor to appear on Broadway. The designer’s brother, Jack Antonoff, even joined in.
Marc Jacobs, Kate Spadeย and Ryan Roche joined in on the celebration of performance. While she didn’t sing at the show, she did rock the runway at Marc Jacobs. While Roche’s children performed aย tribute to David Bowie and Spade had Alice Smith belting out bluesy jazz tunes as models stood in the round.

Sparkle and Sheen
Makeupย is everything! It is the final touch to the fashion, the accent to the look and complement to any design. The beauty looks ranged from almost super natural to bohemian and everything in-between.
Opening Ceremony took the glitter up a notch with streaks of sparkle across the models’ eye lids and down their noses. Sheen across the rest of their face gave it almost a minimalist effect.ย
For all you statement lip fans, no fear, your go-to bold look is not going anywhere soon. Fresh-faced models at Proenzaย Schoulerย alternated with nude and bold, matte red lipsย while Rodarteย and Zac Posen showcased one of our favorite Fall beauty looks — deep burgundy lips.ย
