A 14-year-old girl tragically died and a woman is in critical condition after being struck by lightning on Friday, according to the Associated Press.
Brooklyn Reynolds and her step-mom Jayleen Reynolds, 49, were riding their personal watercraft in the Flamingo Gorge Reservoir at the Utah-Wyoming border when lightning struck the craft.

The Daggett County sheriff’s spokeswoman Susie Potter told the Associated Press the teen died and the step-mom was severely injured and airlifted to a hospital in Salt Lake City.
The teen’s father was riding on a different watercraft nearby. He was treated at the scene for shock, Potter added.
A group of campers nearby witnessed the incident and had to get out of their boat to find cell service to call for help.
“It was just kind of wrong place, wrong time,” Potter told the AP.
Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends in this difficult time.
