While the band Daft Punk has managed to stay out of the spotlight since their 2013 smash album Random Access Memories, their name has been circulated recently in music circles with speculation that the robot musicians are going to be teaming up in the studio with R&B superstar The Weeknd. Daft Punk normally plays things pretty close to the chest, but as it turns out, the rumors of the collaboration were confirmed to be true after the exciting news slipped through the cracks in a recent Billboard interview.

Wendy Goldstein, the executive VP and head of urban A&R at Republic Records, accidentally revealed to Billboard that studio time had been arranged for the boys of Daft Punk and The Weeknd to craft some new jams. Goldstein stated, “Actually, we have a session coming up in two days โ€ฆ with The Weeknd and Daft Punk.”

She continued, “I’ve always been a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”

Also, “Can’t Feel My Face” singer The Weeknd posted a picture on Facebook from what looks like the inside of a studio where two plastic toys of the Daft Punk robots are perched on top of a large speaker. The cryptic photo was posted on Wednesday the 17th of August with no caption. Naturally, speculation began that The Weeknd was collaborating with Daft Punk.

Are you looking forward to a collaboration between Daft Punk and The Weeknd?
