King's incredibly successful mobile title Candy Crush Saga is making the jump from mobile to television, courtesy of Lionsgate and CBS.

The game that continues to enthrall millions of players is being transformed into an hour-long game show for CBS (via Variety). The pitch is that two players will compete to be Candy Crush champion by moving through an interactive game board. The obstacles will probably take on stylings familiar to avid players, like icing, chocolate, and licorice swirls.

"We are huge fans of 'Candy Crush' and, like so many others, we know the 'rush' of advancing to the next level of the game," said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller. "We're excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the world's most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its massive, passionate fan base who can watch and play along at home."

Executive producer Matt Kunitz is heading up the translation, who's previous work includes shows like Wipeout and Fear Factor. Russell Binder (Striker Entertainment), Nicki Sheard (King), and Candy Crush Saga creator Sebastian Knutsson will also be executive producing alongside.

"We instantly knew it would make an incredibly visual, physical and fun TV program," said Lionsgate TV chief Kevin Beggs. "We're very happy to have Matt shepherding the production as we partner with the team at King on this series with the tremendous second-screen potential."
