Annabelle: Creation is doing its part to shore up a floundering summer box office by opening to $36 million this weekend.

Estimates say The Conjuring prequel brought in $15 million from 3,502 location on Friday with the gross early Thursday night showings factored in. The film tells the origin story of the evil doll featured in The Conjuring franchise and is the second film that she has headlined following 2014’s Annabelle.

Christopher Nolan’s World War II film Dunkirk remains steady in second place in its fourth weekend at the box office. The film added $3 million from 3,762 locations to its box office total on Friday and is expected to earn just below $11 million over the weekend, bringing its box office total passed the $150 million milestone marker and to a new total of $153 million at the domestic box office.

The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature is the latest animated feature to open at the box office this summer. The sequel to 2014’s The Nut Job landed in third place with $3 million earned from 4,003 screens on Friday and an estimated $8 million opening weekend.

The Dark Tower, the long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s epic saga, slid from the top spot at the box office last weekend all the way down to the fourth place spot this weekend following negative buzz and largely negative critical reviews. The film earned about $2 million on Friday from 3,451 locations and is expected to make just $7.5 million in its second weekend. That will bring its domestic box office total to about $34 million.

Comedy Girls Trip manages to hang on to a spot in the top five this weekend. The film earned $2 million from 2,303 locations on Friday and is set to earn $6 million in its fourth box office weekend. That will bring the movie’s domestic box office total to $96 million domestic.

Rounding out the top ten at the box office this week are animated comedy The Emoji Movie, Marvel’s latest superhero adventure Spider-Man: Homecoming, Halle Berry’s thriller Kidnap, newcomer The Glass Castle, and Charlize Theron’s stylish action flick Atomic Blonde.

Former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife Esther are happy to welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple lost their 7-year-old daughter Annabelle in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one of the girls finds a seemingly innocent doll that seems to have a life of its own.

Annabelle: Creationย isย directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman. It is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle and the fourth film in The Conjuring series.

In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated.

Dunkirk written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, and Tom Hardy.

3. The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature
