Next summer we will get the latest installment of The Predator, which will see Iron Man 3 director (and original Predator actor) Shane Black taking over the franchise.
A very solid cast has been assembled to bring The Predator to screens, including Moonlight‘s Trevante Rhodes, Logan‘s Boyd Holbrook, comedian Keegan-Michael Key, and X-Men‘s Olivia Munn. The latter was recently doing an interview with Yahoo Movies at San Diego Comic-Con, where she opened up about how exactly The Predator fits into the franchise timeline.

According to Munn:
“It’s really cool because it’s a standalone. We have the inspiration; we’re in the world of the Predator so we have all the other movies that exist, but we don’t need to acknowledge them. And it’s a really cool movie because it feels very present day, and it’s a great ensemble of really amazing fun comedic actors, too… We’re not erasing [the other films], we just kick it up to another level.”
While that’s a better explanation than some of the vague descriptions we’ve heard (such as, it’s not a sequel or reboot), fans will still be wondering and speculating about possible connections and cameoes with the other films – even though that’s something that Black and Co. have been downplaying all along.
