Rapper DMX entered a not guilty plea after being arrested on tax fraud charges.

The 46-year-old rapper turned himself in to authorities on Thursday after he was accused of creating accounts in other people’s names and evading taxes by paying expenses in cash. He also filed a false affidavit in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, as he continually listed his income as “unknown” for numerous years.

The total costs evaded has equaled up to $1.7 million, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

The rapper, who is behind hits like “Party Up” and “X Gon’ Give It To Ya,” seemed surprisingly positive about his situation as he left court on Friday, citing his faith.

“It’s allowed me to not be scared of the situation and face it head-on, you know what I’m saying?” told THR. “My life is in God’s hands.”

DMX (real name Earl Simmons) allegedly stopped paying taxes at the height of his success in the 2000s and has demanded his tax deductions from paychecks be removed on past projects.

His previous record includes a slew of charges, such as: drug possession, DUI, animal cruelty, possession of a weapon, failing to pay child support and various driving charges.

DMX’s faith continued on to Instagram after his release, as he shared an inspiring message to fans.

“LOVE IS INCREDIBLE,” he wrote. “Been a long day, but my faith never wavered. God is great. Today marks the beginning of what’s next.”
