After passing away two weeks ago at the age of 89, Martin Landau‘s official cause of death has now been revealed.

The actor died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering severe internal bleeding which led to his organs shutting down.

According to his death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, Landau’s immediate cause of death is hypovolemic shock. This is what happens to the body when it loses a massive amount of blood.

The certificate also lists a number of other factors in Landau’s death. It mentions metabolic acidosis, intra-abdominal hemorrhage, and diffuse atherosclerotic vascular disease.

In short, Landau’s organs shut down due to internal bleeding and he had a hardening of his arteries.
