Daughter of Robin Williams, Zelda Williams, paid tribute to her late father in a touching Instagram post on what would have been his 65th birthday on Thursday.
The 26-year-old actress wrote on Instagram: “Still not really sure what to do on days like today. I know I can’t give you a present anymore, but I guess that means I’ll just have to keep giving them in your name instead.”

At the age of 63, Robin died in August of 2014. In the wake of his death, his daughter Zelda told EW that she spent her time writing scripts. “Whether by my own volition or otherwise, I was given a year-and-a-half break after Dad passed,” she stated. “It was kind of like an elephant in the room, and everyone was giving me space, whether I wanted it or not…I was really appreciative of the fact that everyone loved Dad so much, but [I] did get looked at like a butterfly that you were going to damage, and that’s in its own way sweet, but also alienating and difficult. I had an enormous amount of time to myself.”
Zelda is now starring in Dead of Summer, a Freeform horror drama where she portrays a transgender man. Regarding the role she also told EW: “It’s interesting. [My dad] missed out on me being proud of myself by about a year and a half, and that’s the one thing that’s really sad for me, because I know he was always proud of me. I think he would’ve loved that I was happy.”
According to Zelda’s Instagram post, she took it upon herself to help three separate causes to commemorate her father’s birthday. The three causes were to: “rescue dogs, people suffering from disabilities, and our nation’s wounded warriors.” She also wrote, “So i donated to freedomservicedogs.org.” “They rescue pups from shelters and train them so that they can be paired with someone in dire need of their help and companionship. Thought you’d get a kick out of fury, four legged friends helping change the world, one warrior in need at a time.”
