You may have noticed that the WWE has lost its spark. No, I’m not referring to a lack of creativity in their storytelling, but rather the absence of fireworks from superstars entering the ring at WWE events. Yes, WWE has dropped their pyro and fans are fired up about it.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that the WWE is no longer using pyro in entrances because the company feels they aren’t necessary and it didn’t make financial sense.

One fan was so angry that they took to Twitter to question “how much lower the WWE would go.” Clearly, this fan wasn’t watching during the Katie Vick storyline. Former DX star and current WWE executive, Road Dogg, responded, saying the move was simply a matter of economics.
“lower”? Are these things a “low” down move to you? It’s just economics and neither are necessary

I agree. In 3 months it’ll be the norm and no one will care, that’s our current society. Pyro in a Wrestling show isn’t a priority in life.

If the cost of side of the road fireworks are any indication, I can only imagine how expensive providing pyro for a wrestling show four times a week would cost.
Sure, the honorable Road Dogg is correct. In a few months, no one will notice. Pyro will just be added to the ever growing list of things older wrestling fans can complain is lacking from the New Era of the WWE. Along with blood and cursing, it will be remembered fondly despite the fact that most people probably didn’t even realize it was gone.

The lack of fireworks will probably not hurt too many of the new stars, but it did make Brock Lesnar’s Great Balls of Fire entrance feel a bit off. Can you even begin to imagine Goldberg or Batista coming to the ring without their signature pyro?
