The 2022 Golden Globes winners are in! On Sunday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the full list of winners for the untelevised 79th Golden Globe Awards, which recognize film and television from the past year. This year’s ceremony was unprecedented. While the Golden Globes are typically broadcast, allowing TV and movie fans to watch the event, the 2022 ceremony was untelevised due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. The ceremony was instead held without an audience or nominees in attendance, and only “select members and grantees” were in the room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California as the winners were announced.
While the 2022 awards ceremony may have gone down with little fanfare, making it one for the books, the spotlight shined bright for two titles in particular. Netflix’s The Power of the Dog and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story each took home awards, with The Power of the Dog winning the award for best drama, best director for Jane Campion and best supporting actor for Kodi Smit-McPhee. Actress Nicole Kidman was also shown some love. Among TV series, meanwhile, HBO’s hit series Succession led the pack with three awards, and after cementing itself in Netflix history as the biggest original series of all-time, Squid Game didn’t go home empty-handed, either. Keep scrolling to see the list of this year’s winners in film and TV (winners are in bold).
