Former Criminal Minds Star Shares Touching Message With Fans
The 12th season of Criminal Minds aired during the 2016-2017 TV season, with its finale taking place back in May. The show had already been renewed for a 13th installment ahead of the episode’s airing.
This past season was clouded in controversy when it began. Lead actor Thomas Gibson was fired from the show at the start of the season, after an altercation on set. This was especially tough as the new season was the series’ first without Shemar Moore. Damon Gupton was then brought in to join the team.

Despite the issues at the start, this season was well-celebrated by fans of the show. Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) was at the center of the action, having been wrongly arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. The rest of the BAU team members spent a lot of time working to get him back out.
Season 12 ended with a major cliffhanger, as many of the main characters were involved in a devastating car accident, seemingly caused by Mr. Scratch. Fans have no idea who survived the accident and who didn’t.
No matter what happens, the new season will look very different. Despite the fact that Gupton just began his run on the show this past year, he won’t be returning in the fall. Daniel Henney, star of the cancelled spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, will be joining the main show as a series regular.
