Former New England Patriot and convicted killer Aaron Hernandez committed suicide in prison overnight, authorities said Wednesday morning.
Christopher Fallon, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Communications of Massachusetts Depart of Correction gave a statement on the incident, which gave details about what had happened.

Here is the message sent out by Fallon:
On April 19, 2017 Aaron Hernandez was discovered hanged in his cell by corrections officers at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts at approximately 3:05 a.m., lifesaving techniques were attempted on Mr. Hernandez and he was transported to UMASS Leominster where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. by a physician at the hospital.
Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population housing unit. Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window.
Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items. The Massachusetts State Police are on scene and the investigation continues. Mr. Hernandez’s next of kin have been notified.

However, two new details have surfaced that give some insight into Hernandez’s life before his death.

Reportedly, inmates have told investigators that Hernandez was high on K2, which is also know as “Spice.”
Daily Mail reports, that the synthetic marijuana is the same drug Hernandez was smoking the night of the murders he was convicted of.
Although the chemical composition of the drug varies, it’s been linked to psychotic episodes, collapses and seizures among users.
Users who take the drug are often times docile but there are occasions where the drug can cause erratic behavior, hallucinations and more. Just check out the video below, which shows a K2 users falling out and hallucinating after smoking a particularly potent batch of K2.
According to the YouTube video, the guy was able to shake off the effects right before the police arrived, and got away on a city bus.

The other detail recently discovered is that Hernandez wrote a popular bible verse on his forehead using a red marker before committing suicide in his Massachusetts jail cell.
The disgraced ex NFL star reportedly scrawled the verse “John 3:16,” which reads: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Hernandez also left a Bible in his cell on to that verse, according to CBS Boston. The verse has been referred to as “The Gospel in a Nutshell.”
Hernandez was quite religious, Gators head coach Urban Meyer would read Bible passages with Hernandez at 7:30 a.m. every day in his office.

The football player also got religious tattoos, God’s hands, sunlight streaming from Heaven and Jesus’s hands on the cross, that would later be joined by the Bloods tattoo he picked up in prison.
