The episode opens with Leonard, Sheldon, and Howard in their new labs running trials on their new gyroscope model. Sheldon tries to leave for the night, but Howard demands that he stays, as he was the person who volunteered to complete the project in just two minutes. Sheldon tries to soldier through, but he only lasts about three and a half minutes.

The next morning, Sheldon and Leonard wake up to Amy and Penny making them breakfast, as they haven’t seen them for a couple of days. Amy mentions that she and Sheldon were supposed to go to a party (actually a gathering of scientists), and Penny volunteers to take his place.

Howard leaves his house for the day, leaving Bernadette and Raj to spend their day off together. Raj offers to take Bernadette to the mall to shop for baby clothes, but Bernadette doesn’t seem to enthused about the idea. Raj then volunteers to help clear out their nursery, but Bernadette says she’s embarassed of all the junk in there. That leads Raj to profess that she has nothing to be embarassed about, as he’ll be in the room when her baby is born. (Bernadette doesn’t seem enthused about that either.)

Sheldon is passed out in front of a vending machine, when he hallucinates the Flash standing in front of him. The Flash tries to peer pressure him into drinking an energy drink, and gives him one for free.

Penny and Amy arrive at the party an hour late, but they’re the first ones to arrive anyways. Their host is a “jokester” geologist named Bert, who’s played by former Deadpool writer Brian Posehn.

Bernadette and Raj start to clean out the nursery, but Bernadette has a mini-meltdown about not really wanting to have kids when she sees her old dollhouse.

Back at the lab, Sheldon arrives hopped up on caffiene and immediately jumps to work. He’s a bit manic, though, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has seen him on a sugar high.

Bert declares his party to be a bust and starts cleaning up. Bert offhandedly asks Amy not to say anything, as she’s super popular on campus. Neither Amy or Penny really know what to say about this shocking revelation.

Sheldon crashes from his energy drink and says he needs another, which leads to him freaking out about being addicted to energy drinks. Leonard tells him to pull himself together, but Sheldon starts twitching and sniffing….classic signs of coming off a caffeine addiction.

Raj tries to cheer things up by asking Bernadette to pick a theme for the nursery, or even a color, but she freaks out again and storms out of the kitchen (but not before telling Raj to follow.)

Bert tells stories about how popular Amy is on Cal Tech, and then gets him to tell her about Leonard (who tricked a hot girl AKA Penny into marrying him). Penny comments that Cal Tech is just like her old high school, although Amy mentions that everyone’s actually smart at her school. Classic popular girl comment there.

Leonard offers to buy Howard a coffee, but Sheldon freaks out about drinking caffeine in front of him. Leonard tries to out-logic Sheldon by telling him the best way to overcome his supposed addiction is to throw himself into work, but Sheldon doesn’t fall for the bait.

Bernadette and Raj hop into the car, and Bernadette admits that she’s not excited about the baby at all. Raj gives her a pep talk that her maternal instincts will eventually kick in, but Bernadette says that she couldn’t even babysit her brothers when they were kids.

Sheldon says that he needs to ween himself off caffeine by giving himself a caffeine suppository. Leonard says that the team is relying on him to get the math right, but Sheldon finally breaks down and says that he can’t figure out the math. Leonard comforts him, leading Sheldon to immediately fall asleep on Leonard’s chest.

Amy and Penny leave the party, although their pleasantries are cut short when Bert admit he’s now in love with both of them.

Raj calls his father, as he has experience with pregnant women (because he’s an OB/GYN) and crazy people (because he’s married to Raj’s mother). Raj’s dad says that some people are baby people and other people aren’t, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be good parents.

The episode ends with Leonard, Howard, and Sheldon approaching their Air Force contact and explaining that they need more time. They said they need two years to finish the project, but their contact is shockingly okay with the delay. Their deadlines extended, the group decide to go to a movie immediately upon leaving the theater.
