Typically when a young child goes to sleep, parents are freed to get some much-needed rest, or better yet some down time that doesn’t require them to watch endless episodes of Peppa the Pig or Sesame Street, though to be fair Peppa’s pretty entertaining.
In any case, thanks to Patrick Quinn, a new craze has taken over naptime, and it’s called the cheerio challenge (via Neatorama). During his three-week-old son’s nap, Quinn managed to stack five cheerios on his baby’s nose. After getting them to stay for a quick second, he snapped a photo and shared it on Facebook, and it wasn’t long before other parents took up the baton.

Since the initial effort, there have been some impressive stacks, with the record sitting at 16 cheerios until recently. 16 has been achieved by two so far, including Demetrice Pollard. He posted the pic along with the caption: “Lasted 2.5 sec. & then crumbled An hour of stacking for 2 sec.” Others have taken to getting creative with it, like Jason Phillippi, who stacked a nice little breakfast on the side of his chid’s head, which included an entire waffle, adding: “Went for the full breakfast.”
It looks like a new record has been set, though, with 21 cheerios being the new benchmark. The record was set by Matt Naden, and it truly is an impressive feat. You can head to the Life of Dad Facebook page for more photos and entries.
