In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Paul Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody talked about how they felt playing stand ins for Walker. During that interview, Caleb mentioned an interesting conversation he had with Vin Diesel, which suggests that character Bian O’Conner might not be gone forever.

Apparently, Vin Diesel reached out to Caleb and Walker’s family to ask if they thought it “would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there.”

“I had a phone call with Vin [Diesel] for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back,” Caleb said. “He wanted [our] blessing.”

The idea of bringing back Walker’s character, even just a glimpse or mention could be a great way to keep a little bit of Walker alive through the Fast and Furious series. For fans, the mention of O’Conner, even if he isn’t sceen on screen will bring back memories of Walker in the previous films. Reminding fans of his character could be the next best thing to having Walker in the film itself.

“Universal wants to make sure to be respectful of Paul and his image too, and his family,” Cody added.

Walker has always been a vital part to the franchise, and many thought that it would die with him. However the franchise survived and is thriving. There are even plans to create three more movies in the current series, as well as prequels and spin-offs.

The newst film, Fast 8, features an all-star cast, including regulars like Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as newcomers like Charlize Theron. This sequel has even cast Scott Eastwood and Dame Hellen Mirren. Fast 8 is schedueld to premiere on april 14, 2017.
