Adam Sandler movies have become progressively worse over the years (yes, it’s possible). His earlier films like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore were hilarious because his shtick was somewhat new, but over time it has worn off. But Ted Sarandos, chief content officer of Netflix, couldn’t be happier with the former Saturday Night Live star.
Lately, Sandler’s films have been panned across the board by critics, receiving single digit scores on Rotten Tomatoes, while also drawing serious controversy due to subject matter (The Ridiculous Six to be specific with its treatment of Native Americans). “The two Adam Sandler movies premiered at No. 1 in every single territory on Netflix around the world,” Sarandos said to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s been a hugely successful deal, and he’s got another one called Sandy [Wexler]. The thing that is most global about Netflix is Adam Sandler.”
