If you’re a fan of American Horror Story, then the series’ latest teaser trailer will make you feel right at home. Entitled “The Lesson,” the new video teaches fans that some seriously creepy children could make their way to the show’s sixth season.
The short clip begins with a camera panning over a field of corn stalks, and a rhythmic banging interrupts the teaser’s eerie silence every few seconds. Fans soon discover the banging is coming from a group of kids who’re hidden in the field. Sitting at school desks, six children look blankly towards the camera as they rap their fists against their desks. But, at one point, the group looks up towards the sky as the camera zooms out – and lets fans see that one of the student is now sporting pitch-black eyes.

Yikes.
The trailer ends with Season Six’s ‘question mark’ logo which resembles a scythe sitting above six check marks. Looking at the trailer, fans are immediately reminded of the long-running horror franchise, Children of the Corn. Based on Stephen King’s work, the series centers around a group of children who belong to a murderous cult. The story was first adapted into a film back in 1984, spawning off a series of over 9 films. In fact, Children of the Corn: Runaway is set to release later next year in 2017.
However, there’s no guarantee that Children of the Corn will actually show up in American Horror Story next season. John Landgraf, FX’s President, said many of the series’ teaser trailers were meant to purposefully misled audiences about Season Six. So far, that promise seems to ring true as all of American Horror Story‘s previous trailers have been very different. So, for now, fans can only wonder whether the series will actually feature Stephen King’s homicidal cult. It seems like viewers will discover which of FX’s trailers was real when American Horror Story returns on September 14th for its sixth season.
