Action fans are gearing up for more excitement, as 24: Legacy is debuting on FOX in just under two weeks.

The long-awaited 24 reboot stars The Walking Dead actor Corey Hawkins, as an Army veteran assisting CTU in tracking down a group of terrorist cells.

While fans want to see plenty of similarities with the original series, there are plenty of ways Legacy can still stand on its own.

Without Jack Bauer, the new series is going to naturally feel different. We’re hoping the show’s creative team will embrace those differences and give fans a brand new show to fall in love with.

Here’s five things we want to see from the new series when it airs on Super Bowl Sunday.

Classic 24 Action

24 was known for a lot of things, but the most prominent was the incredible acton within the show. Legacy will aim to bring more of the same.

The first episode had some great action scenes, and we want to see that throughout the entire series. Hand-to-hand combat, ridiculous explosions, and insane daredevil moments are definitely required.

With someone younger in the lead, the show probably won’t slow down too much. If anything, this will be the most action-packed 24 we’ve ever seen.

Plenty Of Tony Almeida

The transition to a new lead agent is needed, but that one complex link to the past could prove to make some awesome television.ย

Tony Almeida is that very link.

The trailers have shown that the character appears in the new series, and he was one of the most interesting characters in 24 history. The balance of good and evil was always a struggle for Almeida, and that could add to the problems facing Eric Carter and his team.

More Relevant Issues

When 24 first began, it was applauded for diving into genuine issues facing our world. The series premiered shortly after the effects of 9/11.

There are plenty of important issues facing our society today, and Legacy will aim to tackle some of them.

The pilot did a great job addressing race relations, veteran aid, and many other issues, and we’re hoping the series will continue to do so.

Franchise Building Around Corey Hawkins

Corey Hawkins is a talented actor, and 24 has the ability to build an entire franchise around his character.

What we don’t want to see is a show trying to hard to be what it used to be, that it doesn’t realize how great it could become. Instead of trying to remember how cool Jack Bauer was, focus on how awesome Eric Carter is.

Use the 12 episodes of this season to truly build his character, and set him up for seasons to come.

Just One Tiny Cameo From Jack Bauer

That being said, just one look at Jack Bauer would be a great addition to the new series. We don’t want him to recur as a character, but a small cameo would send hype through the veins of every fan watching.

When The Office aired its final episode on NBC, Steve Carrell said that he wouldn’t come back. He knew that the episode shouldn’t be about him, but about the other characters featured on the show.ย

The show found a way to include a small cameo from his character Michael Scott, and it worked perfectly.ย

24: Legacy should find a way to use Jack Bauer in a similar way.

The new series debuts Feb. 5 on FOX, directly after the Super Bowl. Check out our official review of the pilot episode here.
