Every kid dreams of the day they will get to take a magical trip to one of the Disney theme parks. For five lucky kids, they get to experience the excitement of Disney as often as they desire just by going to visit their grandfather's backyard.

In the hopes of building something that his grandchildren would always want to come visit, one man in Fullerton, California was inspired to create a mini theme park in his own backyard.

68-year-old Steve Dobbs stated that his grandchildren were easily bored with a small train in the backyard that he once bought for them to play on. Lucky for the grandchildren, grandpa happens to be an aerospace engineering genius who took it upon himself to construct a miniature Disney-themed park for the grandkids to enjoy.

"My younger grandkids are nuts about Disneyland," Dobbs mentioned to The Orange County Register. "I wanted to give them a reason to come over to my house to spend time with me, and Disneyland is tough to compete with."

The incredible theme park first began with a "Small World" themed ride and it's only grown over time. The miniature theme park is full of princess castles, trains, and tunnels similar to what you would see at an actual Disneyland Park, which happens to be not too far from Dobbs' home in California.

Dobbs created a variety of attractions including rides inspired by Disney movie favorites such as "Finding Nemo" and "Frozen."

The grandkids are now getting older, so Dobbs wanted to be able to provide the full them park experience. He is a professor at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona and had his students help him build a small roller coaster, according to the Huffington Post.

"Dobbsland might be miniature in size, but it's huge in the hearts of our family and friends," stated Cori Linder, Dobb's daughter in a blog for Babble. "The best part about Dobbsland? Admission is absolutely free."

Steve Dobbs is definitely our pick for "Grandpa of the Year" award.
