Miley Cyrus Makes Admission About Her Drug Use In New Interview

Miley Cyrus opened up in a candid interview to reveal that she has given up smoking weed for the time being.

While talking to Billboard magazine, the “Wrecking Ball” singer said that she wants to take a new direction with her life. She once caused media uproar back in 2013 for lighting up a blunt on stage at the European Video Music Awards, but Miley says those days are over for the foreseeable future.

“This is crazy, but I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks,” she said, “Which is the longest I’ve ever (gone without).”

The Hannah Montana alum stated that the people she was smoking weed with are not the kinds of people that she plans to hang out with anymore. Given that she has become an outspoken political activist, Miley wants to be in a better state of mind to make an impact on people.

“I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be.”

Not only did the 24-year-old give up weed, but also she has quit drinking for a while.

“I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now!” she said.

Once Miley Cyrus’ fans heard the news that she was giving up marijuana, many took to Twitter to share their reaction.

During the interview, Miley also dished on her engagement to Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth. Even though they hit a rough patch a couple years ago, and ended their relationship, the star couple is happier than ever.

Miley Cyrus said that she needed to find herself before falling in love and getting engaged again to Liam.

“We had to refall for each other,” she said.

The “Party In The U.S.A.” hitmaker said that the reason she chose to temporarily break off her engagement to Liam was because she was going through a period of “change.”

“I needed to change so much,” she said. “And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognize you anymore.’”

On May 11, Miley plans to release an all-new song called “Malibu” that is about her relationship with Liam.

“I never would’ve believed you if three years ago you told me I’d be here writing this song,” she said.

The former Disney channel star explained that she wrote the tender tune on her way to film for NBC’s The Voice.

“On the way to The Voice. I drive myself everywhere, but that day I decided to Uber, and I was trying not to sing out loud because someone else was in the car.”

The song may be more of a sentimental tune than her fans are used to, but Miley doesn’t care.

“They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam,” she said. “So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel.’”
