By now, you’ve likely heard of the massive failure that is Fyre Festival, but we’ll provide a brief refresher just in case because you need to know what kind of insanity might await in the eventual movie.
Fyre Fest was co-founded by New York rapper Ja Rule, and it was to be an extravagant music festival in the Bahama’s that offered an even better experience than Coachella.

That turned out to be an unfulfilled promise. When people turned up, some who’d shelled out more than $12,000 to be there, they found that the festival was in complete chaos due to being terribly mismanaged.
Attendees discovered that the luxurious amenities they paid for merely amounted to half-built tents for shelter and cheese sandwiches for dinner.
News had been out for a while when actor/writer/producer Seth Rogen tweeted out that, ironically, he and the guys from The Lonely Island were already in the process of making a movie about a failed music festival BEFORE the whole Fyre Fest madness began.
The Lonely Island quickly quipped back that they’re thinking about suing the festival for ripping off their idea.
This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes HORRIBLY WRONG.

For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea. https://t.co/uiLxhzLg85

Needless to say, the rest of Twitter has had a field day taking shots at the festival as well, and it’s side-splittingly hilarious.

Reportedly, people arriving at the festival immediately began noticing that the concert grounds weren’t even finished being constructedย yet. It’s also been said that some people were scroungingย for towels to use as blankets, and that the tents that were provided were all full up and many couldn’tย find proper shelter.
Some attendees turned right around and headed back to the airport to just leave, but eventually so many people ended up trying to fly back home that the airport started shutting down flights.
Officials in the Bahamas stated that they were “extremely disappointed” with the “total disorganization and chaos”, and went on to say, “The event organizers assured us that all measures were taken to ensure a safe and successful event but clearly they did not have the capacity to execute an event of this scale,”

Amongย the headlining acts for the festival were pop-punk rockers Blink 182, who dropped off the bill when they heard about the ensuing chaos.
In a statement toย festival attendees, they said, “We’re not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give our fans.”
Additional acts were to include hip-hop starsย Migosย and Lilย Yachty, as well as EDMย trio Major Lazer.
Fyreย Fest co-founder Ja Rule released a statement as well, saying, “I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM as everyone is reporting. I don’t know how everything went so left but I’m working to make it right by making sure everyone is refunded.”

Son: Hey dad can I have 12k to go see JaRule in the Bahamas?

Dad: Yes, because I hate us. #FyreFestival
Ultimately, the festival organizers have “postponed” the event until they can get the whole mess sorted out. Which, hopefully, happens sooner rather than later.
