Does Brock Lesnar Already Have a UFC Opponent?

The rumors of Brock Lesnar leaving WWE for UFC continue to swell.

Last week, we learned that Lesnar was interested in the idea, specifically when his contract expires after WrestleMania 34. But now, things are more tangible as a future opponent may be in the works.

On a Facebook Live chat, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones teased a future match with Lesnar:

"I would love to fight Brock Lesnar. He's a massive dude. I mean, it would be a massive draw. Really big for the sport. It'd be a great challenge. That's a big ol' boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though. I definitely wouldn't try to wrestle with him the whole time. I would … you know what, I wouldn't tell you what I would do."

The Associated Press got wind of this and contacted Lesnar himself to ask about the prospects of fighting Jones:

"Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime, anywhere. Right now he should be worried about D.C. on Saturday night."

Jones is set to face Lesnar's friend, Daniel Cormier this Saturday (thus the D.C. reference. Ironically both Jones and Lesnar have been suspended by UFC for violating their doping policy. Obviously, Jones' suspensions up, but Lesnar's is frozen and still has five months remaining.

It was reported last week that Lesnar had re-submitted himself to UFC's testing pool, thus starting the clock on the remainder of his suspension. However, those reports are said to be false by UFC's President of Athlete Health and Performance, Jeff Novitsky in a quote from MMAJunkie:

"(Lesnar) is not currently enrolled in the USADA testing pool, nor has there been any inquiry on his part to do so."

Novitsky would add that there was "zero truth" to the story from yesterday that Lesnar and Paul Heyman met with UFC officials.

It has also been reported that once Lesnar's contract is up with WWE he will be gone. This should be taken with a grain of salt. Lesnar, despite rarely ever talking on WWE cameras, is a shrewd businessman and this is likely part of a long-term plan to get the most money from everyone.

Currently, Lesnar is WWE's Universal Champion. He's set to defend his title in about a month at SummerSlam. This new information could conceivably provoke WWE to get the belt to someone else. WWE has to perfect opportunity to do this on Austust 20th at SummerSlam where Lesnar will be defending his title against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Bbruan Strowman.

That makes for quite the old school showcase of monsters that made WWE what it is today. There may not be enough canvas in the ring to support a match between those four behemoths, and there certainly is no clear favorite. And when we have to resort to guessing, that's when wrestling is at its finest.
