5 WWE Superstars Who Deserve More
WWE owes us more. With all of the time we spend watching wrestling content, they owe us bigger [...]
Luke Harper
Luke Harper was nearly in the WrestleMania main event. One month later, he's losing cleanly to Erick Rowan on SmackDown. Let that sink in for a second.
When Harper won the battle royal to become the number one contender to Bray Wyatt's WWE Championship (and he did win), it was assumed that at worst, he would be in a triple threat with Orton and Wyatt at 'Mania.
Harper even got a new look (well, a clean tank top at least) and a man-bun. He was ready for the big time.
Maybe we didn't expect him to actually win the WWE Championship, but just to get that "main event shine" would have done wonders for the wild man. Not to mention how much it could have helped out the worm-projection snoozefest that was Orton's 'Mania victory.
Despite being a cult fave with the fans and one of the most impressive big men on the roster, we still don't know if he's going to be on SmackDown from week to week.
The former right hand of the Wyatt Family deserves so much better. I truly believe, if used correctly, he has Mick Foley babyface potential written all over him.
prevnextApollo Crews
Poor Apollo.
First, his only gimmick was smiling. Next, he wasn't even allowed to be in a feud with Dolph Ziggler without Kalisto by his side. Then, he became the first star announced to move to Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up and we foolishly assumed big things were coming his way. Finally, he found a possible manager and direction in Titus O'Neil.
I know, it's not much, but it was something - the Titus Brand got Apollo on TV.
This week, however, we learned that Titus was possibly being sued for a prank gone wrong and suddenly neither he or Apollo were on Monday's Raw from London.
This guy has "all the tools." They repeatedly say that during his matches, yet, they still have no idea what to do with him.
He deserves better.
prevnextAmerican Alpha
The most talented tag-team on SmackDown is currently an afterthought. I'm all for The Usos holding the belts and for Breezango challenging at Extreme Rules, but not at the expense of squandering all the momentum American Alpha had built up after their debut.
Things started rolling towards the downside of the hill the moment Alpha were put in the Andre battle royal at WrestleMania instead of defending their belts.
SmackDown currently has the opposite problem of Raw - too many stars and not enough time. If SD Live can't get American Alpha in a match that doesn't revolve around the belts, they should have been moved to Raw. God knows The Club and Enzo & Cass could use someone else to feud with.
The story of American Alpha is not all that unfamiliar-NXT superstars with a tremendous amount of momentum get lost on the main roster.
I just hate to see it happen to Jason Jordan and Chad Gable. They're too talented to get lost in the shuffle.
prevnextSami Zayn
Remember the last time Sami Zayn won a match?
Yeah, me neither.
Isn't a performer as beloved and talented as Sami deserving of more than just the "guy who tries really hard but ultimately loses every time" story?
Yes. Yes, he is.
If this entire story of Sami's is to lead up to a crowning "underdog wins the championship" victory, then fine, maybe it was all worth it.
It worked for Sami in NXT, and it could work again on the main roster, but I don't have enough faith in WWE to believe they have that kind of long-term play in place.
prevnextDean Ambrose
Dean Ambrose is the Intercontinental Champion. He was the acting GM of Raw this week. He's one of the biggest stars in the company. He's married to Renee Young.
So, how could he possibly make this list?
Well, I'm glad you asked.
Dean Ambrose is currently a record on skip; a car stalling out on the highway.
The Lunatic Fringe has gone as far as he can go with this version of Dean Ambrose. Now a member of Raw, Dean has to share the top babyface spotlight with Finn Balor and former Shield bros, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
He's in a job where he can't advance and when you can't advance upward, you need to make a move in a different direction.
Right now, there is only one way to go with Dean and that is to turn the Lunatic Fringe into the Lunatic Heel. A fresh, vindictive coat of paint on Ambrose would allow him to really show his crazy side.
Every wrestler always says it's more fun to play the bad guy and Dean looks a bored right now running through motions.
He deserves a chance to show what he's really capable of. He deserves more.
