On Tuesday night at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater, America’s Got Talent kicked off the semifinals round with 11 quarterfinalists vying for fan votes in order to see which five would advance to the final round. One participant that has made a huge splash on the show is the comedian Tape Face.
The comic mime required some fan participation in his most recent performance, as he called one audience member to the stage and placed balloons between the volunteer’s arms and legs. Tape Face then placed balloons between his own arms and legs before the two proceeded to engage in a western-style shootout using staple guns. The duo shot back and forth at one another to the tune of “Misirlou” by Dick Dale & His Del-Tones, a well-known song from Pulp Fiction. Eventually the fan would win the hilarious competition.

Here’s some of the other highlights from Tuesday night on America’s Got Talent:
The family band Edgar featuring Nikki and Rich Edgar with their daughter Jaslyn belted out a rendition of “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. The judges were brought to their feet by the performance, and Simon stated that he believed the trio made the most improvement on the show thus far.
Magician Jon Dorenbos and former National Football League star brought onto the stage a Velcro map of the United States and had each judge throw a football at it. After the footballs stuck on random states, Dorenbos pulled out coins from a locked box that had the names of the judges’ states as well as a map that had the judges’ faces stuck to the corresponding states. Simon called him a “genius,” and Heidi said that the trick was Dorenbos’ most impressive so far.
