Study Finds 30 Percent Of Millenials Won’t Date Someone Over TV Preferences

Have you ever avoided taking someone out on a date because you didn’t like their tv taste? Apparently many people now view the shows that someone watches as an extremely important characteristic when seeking a significant other. According to a recent study, around 30% of millenials will not date someone if they have different tv preferences.

For a unique promotion for new original web series titled “Glued,” Propeller Insights and Xfinity surveyed 1,935 adults ages 25-49 concerning their interactions over television.

The results of the study were given to The Wrap, and here’s what they found:

  • 66% of couples say watching TV together has strengthened their relationship; for millenial couples, it’s almost 75%
  • 55% of parents have put their kids to bed earlier or later so they could watch their favorite TV show together
  • Almost 30% of couples have canceled a social engagement to watch their favorite TV show
  • 50% of couples admit to “TV Cheating,” or watching without their partner
  • About 30% of single millenials have chosen not to date someone based off their TV viewing preferences
