German magicians Siegfried and Roy have signed on to executive produce an upcoming biopic about their lives. The film will be directed by Philipp Stolzl (The Physician) for German film studio UFA Fiction.
Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Uwe Horn took their magic show all the way to the grand stages of Las Vegas when their careers were abruptly halted after one of their white tigers attacked Horn during a performance. The script, based around their careers and lives, will be penned by screenwriter Jan Berger, and produced by UFA CEO Nico Hoffman. Also, the effects company Pixomondo (Game Of Thrones, The Walking Dead) will produce the visuals, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Director Philipp Stolzl stated regarding the project, “The image of Siegfried and Roy floating down onto the stage in their fantastical outfits, landing amidst a pack of snow-white tigers, has been burned into my mind since I was a boy.” He continued, “It was truly out of this world. Being able to tell the story of Siegfried and Roy, covering all their successes, desires and dreams, is a wonderful gift that comes with a special set of challenges for me as a director.
Siegfried and Roy have announced that they’re “excited and honored” to work with UFA CEO Nico Hoffman, whom they have described as “Germany’s most successful film producer.”
Siegfried and Roy became Las Vegas legends with their amazing magic show, which included white lions and tigers. The act was staged at the Mirage Resort and Casino from 1990 to 2003, and was ended when a white tiger named Montecore bit and critically injured Horn during one of their live performances. Horn was left partially paralyzed from the incident, but maintains that the tiger didn’t “attack” him but instead was trying to pick him up after he suffered a possible stroke. “Montecore saved my life,” Horn told People in 2004. The magic duo has since retired after a comeback attempt back in 2010.
Do you look forward to seeing a biopic about the infamous magicians Siegfried and Roy?
