Pop star Selena Gomez has decided that she needs a bit of a break from the spotlight. After finishing up her worldwide Revival tour, she announced that she will be stepping away from the limelight to focus on her health and happiness.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Gomez said in a statement according to E! News. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

The “Kill em with Kindness” singer continues to say that she is trying to be proactive about her health and happiness, which, for her, means taking some time off.
“Thank you to all my fans for your support,” she said. “You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
The last time Gomez took a break was around the time she was diagnosed with Lupus. As it turns, she was receiving chemotherapy treatments for her illness. Though she did admit that the whole time she wanted to tell everyone what was going on, but knew that it would be best for her to stay away until she was confident and comfortable again.
A source close to Gomez said that the singer’s time off has nothing to do with alcohol or drug abuse simply that Gomez hasn’t been feeling like herself lately. The source says, “She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”
We hope this break helps you feel better Selena!
