After posting a picture of herself in uniform and using a racial slur on social media, a cop in Pennsylvania has been fired from two different jobs.
The officer has been identified as Melissa Adamson. The image that got her into hot water was a selfie that circulated on social media with the caption: “I’m the law today n***a.”

Adamson was hired as a part-time officer who was in training as a probationary employee, according to the New York Post. She was also working as a part-time police officer in Versailles, Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, Police Chief Charles Roka stated that Adamson has resigned from this position as well.
McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko stated regarding the issue, “This post displays a degree of conduct and character that is far different form what I would expect from an officer in this city.”
The City of McKeesports – Mayor’s Office Facebook page made a statement about the story.
The post in its entirety read: “As Mayor of the City of McKeesport, I feel compelled to publicly address an issue that has come to my attention via social media. A past social media post surfaced just a few hours ago involving a recently hired part-time police officer, who has been in training as a probationary employee for just a few weeks. This post displays a degree of conduct and character that is far different from what I would expect from an officer in this city. It is absolutely unacceptable. Without hesitation, my office and the police chief’s office immediately concluded that this officer’s actions will not be tolerated in the City of McKeesport. She has been relieved of her duties, and her employment has been terminated.”
Adamson spoke with WTAE.com to apologize for the incident that she calls a “stupid mistake.” She explained, “Everyone knows that I don’t have a racist bone in my body. And people who don’t know me, I can understand why it was misconstrued to where it looks racist. But like I said, everyone who knows me knows I’m not racist.”
She continued, “I’m sorry for who I did offend. It was not my intention. I can’t express how sorry I am for how I made you feel – emotionally, physically. Again, it wasn’t my intention.”
Do you think this “stupid mistake” was enough for Adamson to get fired from two jobs?
