HBO has been teasing us for months now with what looks to be their next hit series. Westworld, which has a premise we’re all a little confused about, is a western sci-fi drama about a futuristic adult theme park and…robots.
The new series from Jonathon Nolan, Lisa Joy, and J.J. Abrams is based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was written and directed by American novelist Michael Crichton. However, we aren’t sure how similar the new series will be.

So far, Westworld is being described as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”
Before you click the play button, please be mindful that this Westworld trailer is intended for mature audiences only, but seriously it’s terrifying…
My goodness Dolores, do not ever dream again! As you just saw, the new trailer focuses on Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood), a Western girl who discovers her entire life is an elaborately constructed lie.She soon begins to realize that she’s actually a robotic “host” designed for the entertainment of wealthy park visitors.
“The ‘hosts’ are discovering that they’ve been created in our image, but beginning to question if ‘humanness’ is really what they want to aspire to,” Nolan explained to Entertainment Weekly. “And given their circumstances, it’s easy to understand why they start to question whether they want to be like us at allโฆ”
We also get a glimpse at the creator of the theme park, Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins, Gunslinger (Ed Harris) and a few visitors who take a rather hedonistic and violent romp through the park.
You’ve got our attention, HBO!
With a star-studded cast, Westworld will premiere on HBO on October 2, 2016 for a total of 10 episodes.
