Netflix Releases Trailer For Bob Ross Collection

His teachings are eternal. His hair is immovable. He is Bob Ross. […]

Thanks to Netflix, your day is about to get a little brighter. The streaming service has recently added beloved painter Bob Ross’ Joy of Painting series, and for those who are familiar with the talented artist, you know it was difficult to watch Ross paint one of his beautiful scenes and not smile.

The program ran from 1984 to 1994 and was known for Ross’ trademark laid back style. Everything was welcome in his paintings, and he always preached having fun with it. If you wanted to add a pear tree to your painting of a waterfall, he encouraged it. Quotes like “We don’t make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents” and “There are no mistakes in your world” defined the painter. Occasionally he’d eve bring out his pet squirrel, a cute little guy named Peapod.

Ross’ laid back delivery was intentional. After he retired from the Air Force, he made a point never to scream, saying: “I was the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work. The job requires you to be a mean, tough person. And I was fed up with it.”

Ross was born on October 29th, 1942 in Daytona Beach Florida, and his Joy of Painting series has lived on since the artist passed away on July 4th, 1995, and now fans can experience it all over again.
