In Sylacauga, Alabama on Friday night, a 17-year-old boy named Brian Ogle was viciously attacked for sharing a statement on social media in support of the police.

His mother, Brandi Allen, gave a heartbreaking interview outside of the UAB hospital when she told WBRC, “Instead of us planning for his 18th birthday, we’re here. Why? Because he made a statement that he backs the blue? I’m still trying to understand how someone, no matter the color of their skin, can do this to another human being.”

Chief Kelley Johnson and the investigators on the case have interviewed around 20 people, including family members, persons of interests, and eyewitnesses.

Allen revealed that her son’s skull was broke in three places.

“Apparently he was hit with something that is possibly to be the butt of the pistol,” Allen explained. “He has stitches and he has real bad bruising on his shoulder. There’s a lot of wounds on the back of his head from being hit as well.”

While the police have not yet determined a clear motive, Chief Johnson has indicated that the attack seemed to be racially motivated. Brandi Allen explained that her son had been receiving backlash from other students at high school, and then begin receiving threatening messages after Ogle’s comments had been shared on Facebook.

Allen called for justice in the wake of her son’s attack, and desperately wants the police to arrest the attackers.

“I want to see them handcuffed. I want to see them put in jail. I don’t wish any harm on anyone’s child. I would like for them to have to look at my child right now. I don’t want any other mother to have to go through what I went through these past few days,” Allen said.

We wish Brian Ogle a speedy recovery.
