The reports of creepy clowns wandering around residential areas of South Carolina have made national news lately, and it seems the frightening trend isn’t coming to an end any time soon. Recently in McDuffie County, Georgia there were two 911 calls reporting clown sightings in the area.

Chief Deputy Ronnie Williamson from the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office recalled receiving a call at 11:46 p.m. on September 11 in which the caller reported seeing a clown standing on the side of the State highway 221 between Hobbs Road and the Jefferson County line, according to WFXG.

Two days later on September 13, a call came in at 6:37 a.m. to report the sighting of a clown chasing after kids at a school bus stop near the area called Davis Circle.

The sheriff’s office is not taking this issue lightly, according to Chief Deputy Williamson. He says that they will press criminal charges on the suspects once they are caught. While in public or on private property without the owner’s permission, it is against the law to wear a mask, hood, or any other device that may conceal a person’s identity.

The creepy clowns have been popping up everywhere across the United States including Wisconsin, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Even renowned author Stephen King weighed on in the recent clown sightings.

Why do you think this horrifying trend of clowns terrifying children and everyone in their community has swept across the country?
